It was announced about the foundation of an annual journalistic award named after Zhanar Abdildina.
In Almaty the “Khabar” Agency, the Humanitarian Foundation “Degdar” and an initiative group of the graduates of the National Higher School of Public Administration announced about the establishment of an annual competition among Journalism Faculty students of Kazakhstani universities. The competition is dedicated to the memory of Director General of the “Khabar” Agency- Zhanar Abdildina.
The competition “For professionalism and commitment” is designed to identify, encourage and motivate the creativity of future journalists and contribute to the formation of talented youth, the development of a socially responsible position, and the public activity of journalists.
The scholarship fund is formed due to voluntary contributions of Zh. Abdildina’s fellow students, colleagues, relatives and friends. Annually three winners of the competition are rewarded 100 000 tenge each. This sum is equal to an average fee for one year of studies at the Faculty of Journalism in academic institutions of the republic. The scholarship is paid from the special account of the Humanitarian Foundation “Degdar”.
The winners of the competition will be selected on the basis of their academic performance, as well as the results of a creative competition, within which students will have to write an essay about their compatriot, who is an example of professionalism and commitment. Winners’ sketches will form the basis of documentaries that will be shot and broadcast on the television channels of the “Khabar” Agency. It is expected that the result announcement and awarding ceremony will be held on May 3, Zhanar Abdildina’s birthday.
Zh.Abdildina was a professional and talented manager. She graduated from the Architecture and Construction Institute and later from the National Higher School of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Her life ended at the age of 37 in an car accident on May 10, 2005. Many plans and ideas remained unrealized.
