The unique charitable project “Time Binding Thread” appeared upon an initiative of the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Humanitarian Foundation “Degdar”, Dariga Nazarbaeva, in 2011. The artistic director, permanent participant and creative driving force of the project is Honored Worker of RK, Professor of the National University of Arts and a famous pianist- Timur Urmancheev.

The aim of the project is to pay tribute to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War, the workers of the home front and the labor veterans, i.e., all those who gave us an opportunity to live and work under a peaceful sky in a free independent country.
Another goal of the project is to join together different generations of Kazakhstani people through music.

Annually within the framework of the project, national classical music artists take part in free concerts that are held throughout the country. In different years project participants were the State Trio “Forte-Trio”, Honored Artist of Kazakhstan Gaukhar Murzabekova, and the State Chamber Orchestra “Camerata of Kazakhstan”; leading soloists of the theater “Astana opera” Sundet Baigozhin, Medet Chotabaev, Alfiya Karimova, Azamat Zheltyrkozov; soloists of the Kazakh State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet named after Abay Gulzat Daurbayeva and Andrei Tregubenko, the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the RK, a famous Russian cellist and conductor Denis Shapovalov, and many other artists. One of the concerts within the framework of the project was given by Dariga Nazarbayeva.

The organizers of the project “Time Binding Thread” provide their own piano and everything necessary for concerts. This fact has had a dramatic impact on the project expansion all over the country. For several years concerts and all associate events of the project “Time Binding Thread” have been held in almost all regions of the country. Organizers strive to make high art accessible to the widest audience.

To date, the project has come around more than 30 cities (the participants have visited many cities more than once), the artists have given more than 50 concerts and these concerts have been visited by more than 35,000 people. These figures are constantly growing, as the project has a great success with a wide audience.

The entrance to the concerts is always free of charge.
Concerts are held in the best concert halls of the country.

By their concerts within the framework of this project, Kazakhstani artists remind us of our filial duty to cherish the memory of the winners’ heroism.
In the cities, where the project is held, the veterans of the Great Patriotic War get festive grocery sets that are delivered to their homes. To date, more than 6,000 veterans have received gifts.
In visited cities artists participating in the project conduct master classes and meet-the-artist events for students of universities and colleges of music.
The organizers of the project “Time Binding Thread” regularly receive thank-you letters and requests from veteran organizations and mayors’ offices to bring the project to their cities.

The project organizers are the Humanitarian Foundation “Degdar” and the JTI company.
