The International Arts Festival “Astana keshteri” (“Evenings of Astana”) was founded as a musical gift on the birthday of the capital of Kazakhstan - Astana in 2012. The organizers are the Humanitarian Foundation “Degdar” and the company JTI. The entrance to the concerts is always free of charge.

The International Arts Festival “Astana keshteri” (“Evenings of Astana”) was founded as a musical gift on the birthday of the capital of Kazakhstan - Astana in 2012. The organizers are the Humanitarian Foundation “Degdar” and the company JTI. The entrance to the concerts is always free of charge.

The goal of the festival is to enable the vast majority of people to listen to the best world music artists.

The initiative to create the project belongs to Dariga Nazarbayeva, who is the head of the Board of Trustees of the “Degdar” Foundation. Dariga Nursultanovna has participated in a number of festival concerts. In 2012 and 2013 the concerts were conducted by the world-renowned musicologist, People’s Artist of Russia- Svyatoslav Belza. Twice the festival has been visited by the Head of the State- N.A. Nazarbayev.

In different years the festival participants were a world-renowned pianist Boris Berezovsky, a violinist from the USA Philippe Quint, soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia Anna Aglatova, Vasiliy Laduk, Veronica Dzhioeva, soloists of the Mariinsky Theater Vladimir Samsonov, Yevgeniy Akimov, Irina Mataeva, an organist from Germany Christian von Blon, a folklore ensemble “Mugam” and a jazz band “Jangi” from Azerbaijan, “a silver voice of Russia” Oleg Pogudin, an outstanding jazzman and a trumpeter Vadim Eilenkrig, Larisa Dolina, the quartet “Quatro”, a famous Russian cellist Denis Shapovalov and others.

Kazakhstani art was represented by the orchestra of Kazakh folk instruments named after Kurmangazy, the folk ensemble “Sazgen sazy”, Aiman Musakhadzhaeva and the chamber orchestra “Academy of Soloists”, a pianist Timur Urmancheev, opera singers Sundet Baigozhin, Medet Chotabaev, Meir Bainesh, Gulzat Daurbaeva, Andrey Tregubenko, Alfia Karimova, Azamat Zheltyrkozov, ballet stars from the theater “Astana Opera”, the band “Magic of Nomads”, the dance orchestra “Astana” and others.
The festival concerts are held in the best concert halls of the capital (the Central Concert Hall “Kazakhstan”, the theater “Astana Opera”, the Palace of Peace and Conciliation and the organ hall of the Kazakh National University of Arts).

19 concerts were held and more than 700 singers, musicians and dancers participated in the festival from 2012 to 2016.
More than 25,000 people visited the concerts.
The state television channels “Khabar”, “Bilim zhene Medeniet” and “Kazakh TV” frequently broadcast 13 concerts of the festival.
